Why ceramic film is worth the difference.

Heat, not just darkness

Ceramic film rejects infrared heat, so a light shade can cool the cabin more than a dark cheap film ever will.

No purple, no bubbles

Dyed film fades and lifts within a few summers. Ceramic holds its colour and stays flat for the life of the car.

Lifetime warranty, registered for you

Xpel film carries a lifetime warranty. We file the registration, and it's honoured at any Tint World in the world.

What's legal in Virginia, Maryland and DC.

VLT is the percentage of light that gets through the film and the glass together. A higher number is a lighter tint. These are the limits for passenger cars.

 Front sidesRear sidesRear glass
Virginia50% VLT35% VLT35% VLT
Maryland35% VLT35% VLT35% VLT
Washington DC70% VLT50% VLT50% VLT

SUVs, vans and pickups get more latitude behind the driver: Maryland allows any darkness on the rear glass and rear sides of a multipurpose vehicle with dual side mirrors, and DC allows 35% there. All three allow non-reflective film on the windshield above the AS-1 line or the top five inches, whichever is less, and all three cap reflectivity. Limits are measured on the finished window, film plus factory glass together. Verify current limits with the relevant DMV before you choose a shade.

Questions we get every day.

How long does tint take?

Most cars are a two-hour turnaround. Drop it off, run an errand, and it's ready. Larger vehicles and full-coverage film jobs take longer, and we'll tell you exactly how long when you call.

What's the warranty?

Lifetime Xpel warranty. We register it for you, so there's no paperwork on your end, and it's serviced at any Tint World location worldwide if you move or you're travelling.

Can you remove old tint?

Yes. Removal is an additional charge, and we need to see the car in person to quote it. How the old film was installed and how long it's been on make a real difference to the labour, so a sight-unseen number would be a guess.

What about a Virginia medical exemption?

Virginia lets drivers with a qualifying medical condition run darker film, down to 35% on the side windows, through a DMV authorization. You submit form MED-20 with a statement from a licensed physician or optometrist. Front windshield tint is checked at the annual safety inspection, so have the paperwork sorted before yours comes due. Call us and we'll walk you through where you stand.
